Frequently Asked Questions - Newborns
How do you choose props and color schemes?
When planning for your newborn session, I send out a questionnaire to gather information like “what colors would you like to see incorporated”… from there I carefully plan out every detail from hats/headbands, container props, etc. Please do remember that newborn sessions are baby led, and not every baby will allow us to get every pose! I work very hard to ensure that your gallery will be filled with beautiful and unique images, but I cannot guarantee that I will be able to get a specific pose.
When are Newborns photographed?
Ideally, I like to bring newborns in sometime within the first month after birth. I recommend reaching out as soon as possible to have your due date added to my calendar. I only take a certain amount of due dates per month so that I can dedicate time and attention to each client! Once baby is born, we will schedule a day and time from there. Currently, newborn sessions are only offered on weekends.
How long do newborn sessions take?
.Newborn sessions can last anywhere between 1-4 hours, depending on what package is chosen along with several other factors. After all, we are working with tiny humans so it’s normal and typical to stop for feedings, diaper changes etc. Every baby is different
What do I bring?
Just you and baby! Nothing is necessary or required. I will have all the props, wraps, headbands, hats, etc, etc… However, some clients do choose to bring sentimental pieces to be incorporated.
How and when will I receive my images?
All images are delivered via an ONLINE GALLERY within TWO weeks from your session. You will be able to save and share the images from your online gallery.
What can I expect when I arrive?
For newborn sessions, I do keep the studio warm to prevent baby from getting too cold while being wrapped and unwrapped for different poses. The studio will have dim lighting and a sound machine going to create the perfect environment for a happy baby.
What should I wear for Parent Poses?
I recommend sticking to a neutral or monochromatic color palette! Brown, cream, white, tan, grey, navy, black. I find that sticking with classic colors truly creates a timeless look that you can frame in your home and never get tired of looking at! Color is also welcomed, I recommend deep tones or pastels, avoiding brighter/neon colors. Backdrop options that are available are white, cream/tan, grey, and black.
How do we set a date?
Once your deposit and contract are submitted, I will add your due date to my calendar! You will then reach out as soon as baby is born as we will schedule a day from there. Newborns are ONLY photographed on weekends.
